Twenty-year-old Matt got his first taste of first-team cricket for the Bears last season when he made his championship debut at Taunton - and he is keen to stack up more senior games across the formats this year.
That he is very much in the Bears' planning was shown by his selection in the team for the pre-season Emirates T20 Tournament in the UAE.
A product of North Bromsgrove School and Barnt Green CC, Matt has been in the Bears' system since the age of nine.
He scored consistently for the 2nd XI last season, peaking with a double-hundred and a hundred in successive innings which underlined his potential. "Matt is capable of taking teams apart and could be someone to supply some power in white-ball cricket in the Laurie Evans role," said first-team coach Jim Troughton.
