Tony Frost

Captain turned coach

Troughts epitomises everything great about the Bears. Having been involved with the club since the age of 11 he was awarded a professional contract in 1999 and soon became an integral part of the first team before progressing to England honours in 2003.

Awarded the captaincy in 2011, Jim guided the Bears to the County Championship title in 2012, cementing his reputation as a true leader of the pack.

After his playing career was cut short by a back injury in 2014, it was testament to Jim's character and standing at Edgbaston that the club quickly appointed him as part of the backroom staff as fielding coach. He was subsequently named first-team coach in December 2016 and last year steered the Bears to the championship Division Two title in fine style.
