The legend that is "Pop" Welch needed no introduction to Warwickshire fans when he returned to the club as bowling coach in November 2017.
A county championship-winner with the Bears as both player (1994 and 1995) and bowling coach (2012) Pop was delighted to return to his "spiritual home."
He rejoined the Bears from Leicestershire where he spent a year as assistant coach. His spell with the Foxes followed two years at Derbyshire whom he joined as elite performance director after leaving Edgbaston in early 2014 having been part of the coaching team which steered the team to silverware in red and white-ball cricket.
He now has a broad brief - to work with the current first-team bowlers but also set up a conveyor-belt of bowling talent which will benefit the first-team squad in medium and long term.
