Matt Lamb starred with the bat as the fourth round of the Birmingham and District Cricket League took place at the weekend.

Set 273 to win by Berkswell at The Lant, Barnt Green fell 23 runs short despite Lamb’s excellent 88 off 104 balls (11 4s 1 6). The victory sees Berkswell move up to eighth, whilst Barnt Green remain rooted to the bottom without a win this season.

Andy Umeed continued his fine form for W.B Dartmouth by steering them to a seven wicket victory at Ombersley. After making 66 not out against Berskwell last week, Umeed added 69 off 72 balls (9 4s) before being caught by Daniel Williams off the bowling of Neil Slade.

Chris Wright returned to club cricket action as Dorridge defeated top of the league Shrewsbury on their own turf by 71 runs.

Wright, who has played in every County Championship fixture so far season, made 18 not out (2 4s) before bowling figures of 6-0-30-1 leading to the hosts being all out for 154, trying to chase 226 to win. Panayi, who was batting fifth for the hosts made eight off 29 balls.

Alex Thomson and Alex Mellor went head-to-head as Moseley fell to defeat at Walsall. Put in to bat, the home side made 208/8 with Mellor making one and Thomson taking one wicket for 40 runs off 10 overs. The travelling side looked set to chase the total down but after Thomson was caught behind by his team mate for 28 (4 4s), Moseley fell 13 runs short.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Sunny Singh finished with figures of 10-1-43-1 and 15 off 22 as Smethwick won at Wolverhampton by three wickets.

It was a busy afternoon for Liam Banks as Tamworth made it three wins from four in the First Division by defeating Leamington at home.

With the away side choosing to bat first, Banks bowled figures of 10-0-53-1, took four catches and hit 45 off 49 (7 4s) as the hosts chased down their 185 target.
