Warwickshire Women’s team and Academy Fast Bowler Issy Wong has been selected for the England Women’s Academy (EWA) training camp in India next month.

Right-arm fast bowler Wong, who plays women’s club cricket for Berkswell and boys and men’s cricket for Knowle & Dorridge, and is currently studying for her A-Levels at Shrewsbury School, was named in the EWA Winter training squad last November, alongside fellow Bear Ria Fackrell.

Issy is a very exciting prospect and is already bowling with pace that could trouble batters at the highest level of the game.

She has been named as one of 15 members of the for the EWA camp that will be based in India from 6 to 26 April.

Laura MacLeod, Women’s & Girls’ Performance Manager at Warwickshire CCC, said: “We’re always delighted to see players from the Warwickshire pathway get opportunities in the England set-up and it’s great to see Issy win this place with the EWA in India.

“She’s a very exciting prospect and is already bowling with pace that could trouble batters at the highest level of the game.

“Bowling in the subcontinent presents a great challenge to any seam bowler, but we’re confident that Issy can learn a huge amount from this experience and develop the necessary skills to take her further in the game.”
