Following further medical examinations, Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed that 18-year-old fast bowler Henry Brookes will miss the remainder of the 2018 season following a stress fracture in his lumbar spine.

Brookes, who has taken 37 wickets for the Bears across all formats this season, will now have a period of rest before undertaking a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical team. He will subsequently return to full training in the winter.

Ashley Giles, Sport Director at Warwickshire CCC, said: “Henry has been outstanding for us this year across all three forms of the game, so we’re obviously very disappointed to lose him for the remainder of our 2018 campaign.

“He’s an incredibly strong character for an 18-year-old and, whilst he is very disappointed to be out of action, he will soon be back working hard to ensure that he comes back stronger in the 2019 season.”
