Edgbaston Foundation Community Day this Sunday at Warwickshire v West Indies A

14 June 2018

Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium is opening its doors for people of all ages to come along and enjoy a free game of cricket on Father’s Day, this coming Sunday, when it stages the Edgbaston Foundation Community Day.

Starting at 10am, entry is completely free for all to watch Warwickshire’s 50-over game against West Indies A. In addition, there’s extra free activities taking place for all of the family throughout the day.

Giant inflatables activities and games are available inside and outside the stadium bowl until the interval, whilst there’s also free face painting and a steel drum band playing live in the morning.

After the lunch break, coaches from the Warwickshire Cricket Board are providing free ‘introduction to cricket’ sessions over at the Edgbaston Indoor Centre. In partnership with Boundaries for Life, free 15-minute health checks will be available to attendees over the age of 35-years-old. There will also be opportunities to meet some of the Warwickshire players.

Ravi Masih, Head of Community Engagement at Warwickshire CCC, said: “The Edgbaston Foundation Community Open Day has grown over time and we’ve brought together a great day of activities on and off the field for people of all ages to enjoy.

“Whether you’re a loyal Bears fans or coming to Edgbaston for the first time, we’re putting on a day that will hopefully make all feel welcome and get the message out that Edgbaston is for everyone.”

The Edgbaston Foundation is Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s official charity, which aims to help young people better themselves through education and training and using cricket to encourage them to be more active and feel like they are part of society.

“Whilst being a major part of the Edgbaston Foundation’s annual programme, Community Day is completely free to attend,” added Masih. “We just encourage everyone interested to register in advance.”
