With the first Test of the 2017-18 Ashes cricket tour getting underway in Brisbane later this month, Warwickshire CCC Official partner Birmingham City University is presenting a unique event with club Sport Director, and former England spinner, Ashley Giles on Thursday 16 November.

Giles, who won 54 Test caps and was part of England’s legendary 2005-winning Ashes team, will be joined by Warwickshire 1st Team Coach Jim Troughton for a talk about his previous experiences of the Ashes and preview the forthcoming five-match series.

Held in The Recital Hall of the new Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the centre of Birmingham and hosted by Sky Sports’ Johnny Phillips, this is your chance to hear about England’s historic 2005 Ashes win and Giles and Troughton’s thoughts on England’s prospects in the upcoming series.

‘Ashes Talk’ forms part of Birmingham City University’s City Talks series. The series features a public programme of high profile speakers who share their views and insights on a range of topics, promoting the University’s ambition and aim of being a ‘university without walls’.
