Warwickshire & Birmingham Bears wicket-keeper/bat Amy Jones has been named Sky Sports News Sportswoman of the Month for November after helping England Women to the final of the recent ICC Women’s World T20.
Jones, who came through the club’s Academy and Player Pathway, was Player of the Match in England’s eight wicket victory in the semi-final versus India, scoring 53 not out off 47 balls. Overall, she scored 107 runs in the tournament at an average of 53.5 and took four catches with one stumping.
"At only 25-years-old, Amy could achieve a huge amount in the domestic and international game around the world."
The ICC Women’s World T20 has come for Jones after a strong year in ODI cricket, where she has scored three half centuries, including 94 against India in Nagpur in April.
Laura MacLeod, Women & Girls’ Performance Manager for Warwickshire CCC, said: “Everyone at Warwickshire CCC is very proud to see Amy recognised by Sky Sports for her performances in the ICC World T20.
“She’s made great progress in the international arena and has now proven that she can deliver match-winning performances on the biggest stage. At only 25-years-old, she could achieve a huge amount in the domestic and international game around the world.”
Following the ICC World T20, Jones has now travelled to Australia to join up with Women’s Big Bash franchise Perth Scorchers, with the tournament taking place across December and January.
