Academy set-up Trophy semi-final following big win over Dorridge

Warwickshire’s Academy booked their place in the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League’s Williamson Trophy by recording an emphatic 146-run win over Dorridge.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, a 97-run second wicket partnership between new Academy member Alex Oxley and 17-year-old Dan Mousley built great platform for the Bears to set a challenging total.

Oxley departed for 42, but Berkswell all-rounder Mousley would go on to make 95 off 67 balls before he was caught behind off the bowling of Siddhesh Dixit.

The Bears went on to reach 297 for eight, from their allotted 40 overs, with David Burnell also adding 45.
Dorridge made an equally strong start in response at 102 for one, but the introduction of Mousley changed the course of the game as he removed opener Aarib Khan for 47.

Mousley and Neylan Chauhan then ripped through the Dorridge batting line-up to dismiss the Premier League side for 151 in 32.4 overs.

Mousley finished the game with figures of five for 18, Chauhan with four for 41, with the other wicket taken by Logan Hughes, who took one for 24.

The Bears Academy will travel to Barnt Green for the semi-final of the Williamson Trophy on Sunday 26 May.
