After winning the toss and batting first at Rugby School, Northants lost two early wickets with Adair and Thurston dismissed by Hurt inside the opening four overs.

Zaib 62 and Paternott 42 led the recovery, while Sharif 31 and Barrett 49 helped the home side reach 274 before the close of the opening day with Cloete 3-34, Hurt 3-39 and Singh 3-70 the main wicket-takers for Warwickshire.

In reply, half centuries from Pollock and Adair, supported by useful lower-order runs from Hurt, Waugh and Spencer took Warwickshire to a hard worked 270, just four runs in arrears before Northants began their second innings after tea on the second day.

Rain ruined the final day and amidst the showers, Northants with Murphy 113 and Zaid 92 leading the way, moved to 289-7 dec before the match was declared a draw with Warwickshire failing to start their second innings.

Spencer closed with 5-77 for Warwickshire as both sides took twelve points from the match.
