Warwickshire County Cricket Club players, coaching staff and management would like to issue a huge thank you to all travelling Members and supporters for cheering the Bears on to victory at Lord’s yesterday.

Supporters travelled from as far away as Cornwall and Newcastle to see the Bears secure an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Surrey, with club captain Ian Bell describing the atmosphere as ‘like a home game’.

Seven supporters’ coaches – provided by club partner Kings Ferry – travelled down from Edgbaston, whilst the club would also like to thank Chiltern Railways for showing their support by running an additional service from Birmingham to London Marylebone.

Dougie Brown, Warwickshire CCC Director of Cricket said: “I’ve been fortunate to experience Lord’s finals as a player as well as well as a coach and yesterday was as loud as I’ve ever heard it thanks to our travelling supporters.

“Bears’ supporters travel in force wherever we’re playing and we’re very fortunate as a club to have such a great backing.

“We thank them and look forward to bringing the trophy back for them to see at Edgbaston.”

The club would also like to apologise for the delay some supporters encountered with the return collection from outside of the stadium.
