Kent/Northamptonshire 2nd XI v Warwickshire 2nd XI, Friendly

Kent/Northamptonshire 252 Warwickshire 231-5
Match drawn

Kent/Northamptonshire won the toss at Canterbury and elected to bat first against a strong Warwickshire side that included nine players with first-team experience in this four day friendly match.

Cowdrey and Munsey put on twenty seven for the first wicket before Jones picked up Munsey’s wicket for just ten runs and Brooke then chipped in with the wickets of Arthurton 5 and Ball 2 before Cowdrey fell to Thomason for a rapid sixty five.

White then held the home side’s innings together making ninety while around him Poysden 4-15 and Brooks 3-42 kept the pressure on Kent/Northamptonshire, dismissing them for 252 in the sixty first over, with Thomason, Javid and Jones sharing the other three wickets to fall.

In reply, Umeed 15 and Javid 34 posted a half century opening partnership and after a solid thirty nine from Evans and thirty from Mellor, skipper Coleman completed his half century, finishing unbeaten on seventy three when rain brought an early finish to the second day with Warwickshire 231-5 trailing by just 21 runs.

Heavy overnight rain, continuing into the third morning resulted in the match being abandoned just before lunch on the third day, as a draw.
